How does molecular motion slow as a liquid becomes glass?
I study how molecules move and rotate as liquids approach the glass transition. Using molecular dynamics simulations, I investigate how regions of faster and slower motion develop, a phenomenon called dynamical heterogeneity.
In Dr. Castillo's group at Ohio University, I develop ways to probe these two kinds of motion. Ongoing work uses million-atom simulations to measure these observables with better statistics. A few other fun projects are in the works, too.
